Keynote and invited presentations

  • Emily Banks presented at the 2019 Women & Heart Disease Forum at UNSW in Sydney speaking on Using Big Data to inform our understanding of heart disease in Australian women

Implementation, Engagement and Outreach

  • Emily Banks, Jason Agostino and Grace Joshy attended the Investigator Meeting for the Kaat Koort project on Dementia in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Persons in Perth. Cognitive assessment tools were discussed and feedback gained from community members.
  • The CVD and smoking outcomes paper will be released on 4th July. Emily Banks and the team have been working on the media release to accompany the paper.
  • Jason attended NATSIHWA forums regarding the delivery of education workshop across the country for aboriginal health workers
  • Jason attended NACCHO RACPG GP’s practice software forum
  • Grace Joshy attended the Health Research Council of New Zealand 2019 BC Register Assessing Committee Meeting in Auckland.
  • Grace Joshy attended the investigator meeting for “Defying the Odds” project in Perth. The different themes of work on the health of Aboriginal infants and children and knowledge translation plan were discussed.
  • Grace Joshy, Emily Banks and Rosemary Korda attended the first investigator meeting (tele-conference) for Multiple Causes of Death project.

  • Planning release of CVD and smoking outcomes paper due on 4th July

New staff

  • Miranda Harris, a Public Health Medical Registrar, started on 28th May and will be working on e-cigarettes and PFAS.
  • Steph Gorman, completing an undergraduate degree in public health, started this month. She will be part of the EPP Support team.
