Gabriele Bammer was an invited speaker and panellist in an Engineers Australia Continuing Professional Development Event “Engineering in complex, interdisciplinary projects - latest insights” on August 20.

Outreach and engagement

Gabriele Bammer has had accepted a proposal to lead a special collection on “Expertise in integration and implementation for transformative research” for the journal Palgrave Communications.

Gabriele Bammer has been invited to join the inaugural Expert Advisory Panel for the Australian Automobile Association Road Safety Research Program to advise on interdisciplinary aspects of the program.

Gabriele Bammer was a member of the ANU Policy Greenhouse Fund Committee which assessed the first round of Policy Greenhouse proposals.

In August the i2Insights blog (http://i2Insights.org), curated by Gabriele Bammer and Peter Deane published blog posts about 14 knowledge translation competencies and how to improve yours, as well as the benefits of learning from inter- and transdisciplinary research ‘failures’. In addition there’s an overview of ‘why model’ and the challenges of accountability in adapting to surprises.

Gabriele Bammer and Peter Deane produced the July/August i2S News (https://i2s.anu.edu.au/what-i2s/i2s-publications/i2s-news), which features a video on the role of games in decision making and change and updated tools on stakeholder participation and on assessing evidence. The News also provides information about the journal 'International Journal of Knowledge and Systems Sciences' plus four journal updates. Information is also provided on the professional association ‘International Council on Systems Engineering.’ These have all recently been added as resources to the Integration and Implementation Sciences website (https://i2s.anu.edu.au/resources).

Gabriele Bammer is also active on the Executive of the Network of Interdisciplinary and Transdisciplinary Research Organisations – Oceania, including running the website (http://nitro-oceania.net).
