Geraldyne How

Research Assistant

Geraldyne’s Honours thesis (Fenner School - supervised by Janette Lindesay) was entitled “Heat Stress & Extreme Heat Events in Singapore & Hong Kong”. Her project set to understand the relationship between extreme heat events and climate change by  analysing the  characteristics of heat stress and extreme heat events over the past 30 years, and  then applied IPCC SRES scenarios to estimate future impacts on heat stress for those 2 cities. The Index she used to measure heat stress was the Discomfort Index whereas we will be using WBGT.

Geraldyne will be replicating this work for the Australian cities for the NHMRC Project Grant with Liz Hanna, Keith Dear, Tord Kjellstrom & Tony McMichael.
