Biography

Kai is a registered midwife with an interest in researching midwifery care in development contexts. Before finding midwifery Kai worked for various public health non-government organisations including the Alcohol and other Drugs Council of Australia, the Australian General Practice Network and headspace: the National Youth Mental Health Foundation. Since finding midwifery Kai has worked tutoring and mentoring students, and continues to work at one of Canberra’s public hospitals in antenatal, birth and postnatal care. Kai spent 2014 living in Indonesia undertaking her honours research into midwifery care there and learning to speak Bahasa Indonesia. She has made a variety of presentations including the Australian College of Midwives Conference, University of Canberra student midwifery conference and the Australian General Practice Network Conference, and remains active with the Canberra branch of the Australian College of Midwives.
