Evaluation of the ACT School Youth Health Nurse Program

This project, funded by ACT Health, explored the implementation of the pilot School Youth Health Nurse Program in eight ACT high schools.

The evaluation was guided by Glasgow & colleagues’ “RE-AIM” framework for assessing health promotion programs, investigating reach, effectiveness, adoption, implementation and maintenance.

Findings indicate that the program has been very successful, integrating the School Youth Health Nurses into the school communities to conduct health promotion activities and provide support and referral for young people seeking help for problems such as mental health issues, drug and alcohol use and sexual health.
