Combined effect of statins and blood-pressure-lowering medications in people without established cardiovascular disease: a meta-analysis of RCTs.

Treatments targeting multiple cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors rather than single risk factors may lead to greater reduction of CVD risk but no meta-analyses have examined the combined effects of statin and blood-pressure-lowering therapy on CVD risk among people without CVD. This is particularly relevant given the interest in fixed-dose combination pills for CVD prevention. This meta-analysis will include randomised controlled trials looking at combined therapy (either as two separate therapies or a combined pill) of statins and blood-pressure-lowering medications on CVD risk.
