Socioeconomic inequalities in the utilisation of cardiac procedures following major cardiovascular disease events.

This project will use large-scale quantitative data from the 45 and Up Study cohort with linked hospitalisation data to investigate whether the utilisation of cardiac procedures following major cardiovascular events varies by socioeconomic status. International studies, particularly from the US, have shown associations between low socioeconomic status and lower likelihood to use cardiac procedures, with evidence that this might vary by type of procedure. However, there is a lack of large-scale Australian data examining this issue.
