Welcome CMHR new head Professor Luis Salvador-Carulla

An official afternoon tea was held to welcome the new Head of CMHR, Professor Luis Salvador-Carulla. With distinguished guests in attendance Professor Archie Clements, Director of the Research School of Population Health, welcomed Professor Salvador-Carulla to the ANU. Professor Salvador-Carulla provided an overview of his past and present work in the area of complexities in mental health care.

Professor Salvador-Carulla was head of the Mental Health Policy Unit, at the Brain and Mind Centre of the University of Sydney. Previous to this appointment he was associate professor of Psychiatry at the University of Cadiz (Spain). His field of interest is decision support tools for the analysis of complex health systems and policy in mental health, ageing, disability and intellectual developmental disorders. He is an honorary member of the World Psychiatry Association and Secretary of the WPA section ‘Classification, Diagnostic assessment and Nomenclature’, past-president of the association of Spanish Researchers in Australia Pacific and scientific secretary of the Instituto Cervantes Academic Forum in Australia.
