Biography

I have an avid interest in public health, particularly in communicable disease epidemiology. Since 2013, I have been working at the Australian Government Department of Health on a broad range of public health issues, including antimicrobial resistance, environmental health, industrial chemicals regulation, and blood borne viruses and sexually transmissible infections. I am currently working as an epidemiologist in the Office of Health Protection, with a focus on influenza and gastrointestinal diseases.

The aim of my PhD is to improve understanding of the epidemiology of shigellosis in Australia in order to enhance shigellosis surveillance and outbreak investigations; implement targeted and efficient prevention measures; and inform appropriate treatment of shigellosis to improve health outcomes.
