Biography

Over the last 9 years I have worked for the Commonwealth Department of Health across a number of areas including national level communicable disease surveillance and more recently in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health. My work in Indigenous health has involved management of complex evaluation projects and development of Indigenous primary health care data collections. Prior to starting the MAE, I spent 9 months working for the Ministry of Health and Medical Services in Kiribati to support their Health Information Unit to improve data quality, reporting, analysis and dissemination of hospital and primary health care data. I applied for the MAE program to further develop my technical skills, particularly in outbreak investigation and field research and for the opportunity to work with and learn from experts in the field and gain hands on experience conducting epidemiology to apply to my career in public health.
