Mental Health Service Mapping Project

The aim of this project is to review mapping technologies currently in use in Australian mental health, including, but not limited to those used by the National Mental Health Service Planning Framework and the Integrated Atlas of Mental Health Care.

The project, and an associated stakeholder workshop, will focus on the following questions:

  • What mental health mapping tools are currently in use?

  • How are they being used – for planning, funding, other uses?

  • What are the important differences between mapping systems?

  • How well are mapping tools meeting the needs of local and regional mental

    health planners?

  • What does this mean for evolving Australia’s mental health planning capacity?

The project, due to be completed by February 2020, is being overseen by a steering group comprising representatives of CMHR, the Federal Department of Health, the National Mental Health Commissions and others.
