Biography

Dr Jenny Welsh is a Research Fellow/ Epidemiologist with the Epidemiology for Policy and Practice Group at the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health. Jenny’s primary research interest is in population health which aims to improve the health of vulnerable groups, including people of low socioeconomic position and people with mental health conditions. She has experience and expertise analysing large, population-based cohort studies and linked administrative data, including data from the Multi-Agency Data Integration Project (MADIP), the 45 and Up Study, the National Health Survey and the Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia (HILDA) Survey. Currently, she is involved in projects using linked Census and Death Registrations data (within the MADIP) to examine education-related variation in mortality and the fatal burden of disease with the aim of generating evidence to support public health action to reduce inequalities.
