Biography

Md. Abu Sayeed is a Veterinary Epidemiologist with over eight years of teaching and research experience. He is a PhD student at The Australian National University's National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health, the Infectious disease epidemiology and modelling group, in the School of Health and Medicine. Prior to beginning his PHD, Sayeed has worked as an Epidemiology lecturer in a veterinary school and as a Research Officer (Epidemiology) in Bangladesh's Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR). His research has focused on identifying the players involved in the emergence of zoonotic diseases in the One Health interface, as well as their ecology and evolution dynamics.

In his PhD research at NCEPH he will use mathematical and geospatial modelling to identify specific pathways, molecules, and genes that influence the risk of transmission of food-borne zoonotic diseases in Southeast Asia using One Health approach. He has so far authored 38 scholarly articles for various international journals.
