Ashis Talukder

PhD Candidate

Biography

Ashis Talukder is a PhD researcher at the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health, the Australian National University. Ashis completed his honour’s and master’s degree in Statistics from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He is currently affiliated with the Statistics Discipline, Khulna University, as an Assistant Professor. Ashis is highly experienced in analyzing big data comes from cross-sectional studies, including demographic and health survey in low and middle-income countries. His research uses a variety of statistical models, including logistic, multinomial, ordinal, Cox PH, to examine the effects of various factors responsible for child malnutrition and non-communicable diseases like diabetes, hypertension, anaemia, and others. He used a number of machine learning techniques as well to understand more about his research topic. He prefers to analyse the data using SPSS, STATA and the R programming language. He has a strong track record in peer-reviewed publications related to the above topics— so far published 45 articles in high-impact public health journals. His doctoral study is focusing the effects of the double burden of malnutrition on non-communicable disease epidemiology in the Asia-Pacific countries.
