Stuart started his career as a clinician, working across multiple jurisdictions in Australia and overseas. He then transitioned into administration and senior management in the public hospital system before commencing as a public servant with the Commonwealth Government Department of Health and Aged Care

Stuart was awarded the Sir Roland Wilson PhD Scholarship.

Stuart PhD research is centered on sexually transmissible infection, in particular congenital syphilis, and policy changes across the health system that are needed to eliminate congenital syphilis in Australia.
