Divergent views on bold ageing reform proposals

21 September 2016

In April 2015, the Australian Government tasked the Aged Care Sector Committee with developing a roadmap that sets out future reform directions for aged care.

The Aged Care Roadmap proposed far reaching reforms that could transform the sector. Darragh O'Keeffe, from Australian Ageing Agenda, speaks to stakeholders and several veteran observers (including Professor Hal Kendig) about how some of the key reforms might play out.

Professor Kendig says that uncapping supply of aged care, together with creative and flexible packages of accommodation and care and moving beyond restrictive planning ratios, would widen consumer choice of care.
