June report for Integration and Implementation Sciences

3 June 2020

Outreach and engagement

Gabriele Bammer ran three successful 3 hour online workshops (for different time zones) for members of Belmont Forum’s Collaborative Research Actions. The workshops funded by Belmont Forum and Future Earth were on “Transdisciplinary co-design, integration and implementation.”

In her new role as ANU’s representative on the steering committee of Future Earth Australia, Gabriele Bammer attended her first steering committee meeting.

After months of planning and testing, Peter Deane implemented an upgrade of the i2Insights blog (http://i2Insights.org), which provides a fresh “look.” In May the i2Insights blog curated by Gabriele Bammer and Peter Deane published blog posts about co-designing intervention strategies, the critical role of trusting relationships in achieving implementation during times of crisis, finding expertise in research integration and implementation to tackle complex problems, and choosing a suitable transdisciplinary research framework. The last two are blog posts in the PHXchange series. In May the blog also achieved a new record in views and viewers with nearly 14,000 views and 8,000 viewers.

NITRO_Oceania (Network of Interdisciplinary and Transdisciplinary Research Organisations in the Oceania region) was particularly active in May planning for a major workshop in June and a business meeting in August, as well as linking members through online coffee chats. Gabriele Bammer is an active member of the Executive and, with Peter Deane, runs the website.
